I bought an SL 65 for a friend of mine so he could watch Turkish TV around 4 1/2 years ago. For the money, it has been a very good unit. Probably about time I took the lid off and ordered a new set of capacitors for the power supply though. ![]() View and Download SilverCrest SL 65 operating manual online. I suspected an LNB problem, but opened up the box, and sure enough, bulging PSU capacitors. Why oh why can't the manufacturers spend a few pence more on better caps? I have one, now seven years old now, never fails me, I use it as a turner for my Panasonic in other sat mode for HD FTA. I paid £19 along with an 80cm Comag dish at Lidl Hightown Wrexham. Excellent quality. £19.00 for a HD sat box. You are deluded. It has upscaling to hdmi. A facility your TV already has for a SD input notably RGB scart. The chances of a £19.00 sat box having a better scaler than your Panny tv is lower than a snowball in hell surviving for 10 minutes Try connecting by a fully wired scart lead to a RGB capable scart, it should have an even better picture. 7 yrs ago you are talking much more than £100.00 for a genuine 1080i sat box. That apart it's a decent SD box, the hdmi is a usefull convenience option not worth much from the point of actual picture quality unless it's used with a very poor TV. (A Panasonic certainly does not qualify). Can you view BBC-HD, CH4-HD, ITV1-HD or NHK-World TV on it, no way. Some can't be even viewed on some true HD receivers because they need DVB-S2 a standard not invented 7 years ago. £19.00 for a HD sat box. You are deluded. It has upscaling to hdmi. Only Comag use the name Silver Crest, these may be specials not on the web, Lidl only sell Comag stuff for sat from what I have seen.
